Abbreviations:
k2tog – knit two stitches together

Cast on any number of stitches
Rows 1-6: knit
Row 7: knit into the front and back of each stitch (every stitched has been increased, you now have twice the amount of stitches, this creates the gathered stockinette stitch look.)
Rows 8, 10 and 12: purl
Rows 9 and 11: knit
Row 13: k2tog to end
Repeat pattern from Row 2.
