Oversized Cable Coat, Scarf & Hat Set Free Knitting Pattern.

Gauge:
12 stitches and 16 rows = 10 × 10 cm in pattern with 8 mm needles.

Stitch Patterns
Rib Pattern (flat):
Multiple of 4 + 2 + 2 edge sts.
Row 1 (RS): K2, P2, repeat from * to last 2 sts, K2.
Row 2 (WS): Work stitches as they appear.
Rib Pattern (in the round):
K2, P2 repeat continuously.
Cable Pattern (over 31 sts):
Work from chart (not included). Only right-side rows are shown. Wrong-side rows: work stitches as they appear.
Repeat Rows 1–12 throughout.

Coat
Back
Cast on 72 (80) sts with 6 mm needles. Work 10 cm in rib pattern, ending with a WS row.
In last WS row, decrease 2 sts = 70 (78) sts.
Switch to 8 mm needles and work as follows:
Edge st, 0 (4) sts in rev st st, 31 sts cable pattern, 6 sts in rev st st, 31 sts cable pattern, 0 (4) sts in rev st st, edge st.
Armholes:
After 59 cm (94 rows) [or 55 cm (88 rows) from ribbing], bind off 1 st at each edge, then 4 times 1 st in every 2nd row = 60 (68) sts.
Shoulder shaping:
At 85 cm (136 rows) from ribbing, bind off each side:
4 (5) sts once, 4 (5) sts once, and 5 (6) sts once in every 2nd row.
Neck shaping:
At the same time as shoulder shaping, bind off center 14 sts. Work both sides separately, binding off at each inner edge: 3 sts once and 2 sts once.
After 87 cm (142 rows) from ribbing, all sts are bound off.
Left Front
Cast on 34 (38) sts with 6 mm needles. Work 10 cm in rib pattern as follows: edge st, K2, P2, end with 2 K, edge st.
Switch to 8 mm needles and work: edge st, 0 (4) sts rev st st, 31 sts cable pattern, 1 st rev st st, edge st.
Armhole:
Work same as for back = 29 (33) sts.
Neck shaping:
At 82.5 cm (132 rows) from ribbing, bind off at neck edge: 5 sts once, then 3 sts once, 2 sts once, 1 st once in every 2nd row.
Shoulder shaping:
As for back.
Right Front
Work mirrored to left front.
Sleeves
Cast on 42 (46) sts with 6 mm needles. Work 22 cm in rib pattern as follows: edge st, P1, K2, P2, end P1, edge st.
In last WS row, decrease 1 st = 41 (45) sts.
Switch to 8 mm needles and work as follows:
Edge st, 1 (3) sts rev st st, 2 sts K, 1 st rev st st, 31 sts cable pattern, 1 st rev st st, 2 sts K, 1 (3) sts rev st st, edge st.
Sleeve shaping:
Increase each side:
10× in every 4th row (11× in every 4th row and 2× in every 2nd row) by 1 st each = 61 (71) sts.
Sleeve cap:
After 31.5 cm (50 rows) from ribbing, bind off each side: 1 st once, then 4×1 st in every 2nd row.
After 37.5 cm (60 rows) from ribbing, bind off remaining 51 (61) sts.
Finishing
Join shoulder seams.
Pick up 124 sts along each front edge and work 10 cm in rib pattern for the button bands, beginning and ending with 2 K sts.
On right front band, make 4 buttonholes (bind off 2 sts and cast on 2 sts in next row):
First buttonhole 4 sts from top edge, remaining 3 spaced 14 sts apart.
For the collar, pick up 58 sts from neckline and work 3 cm in rib pattern. Then increase evenly to 76 sts and continue K2, P2 rib for 15 cm. Bind off loosely.
Sew in sleeves. Join side and sleeve seams. Fold sleeve cuff up 11 cm to outside and sew in place. Attach buttons.
Scarf
Finished size: approx. 47.5 × 174 cm
Cast on 54 sts with 8 mm needles and work 10 cm in rib pattern as for coat bands.
Then continue as follows: edge st, 12 sts rib, 31 sts cable pattern (increase 3 sts evenly to reach 31), 12 sts rib, edge st = 57 sts.
Work until scarf measures 154 cm (246 rows) from start, then work 10 cm rib border, decreasing 3 sts evenly in first row = 54 sts.
Bind off all sts in pattern.
Hat
Head circumference: 52–56 cm
Pattern:
Rib in the round: K2, P2.
Cable pattern: work from chart over 31 sts.
Cast on 60 sts with 6 mm double-pointed needles (15 sts per needle), join to work in the round. Work 14 cm in rib pattern.
Switch to 8 mm needles and continue: 31 sts cable pattern (increase 3 sts evenly in first round), remaining sts rib = 63 sts total.
After 17.5 cm (28 rounds) from ribbing, decrease evenly 16 sts = 47 sts.
Repeat decrease round twice more every 2nd round = 15 sts.
After 20.5 cm (33 rounds) from ribbing, break yarn, thread through remaining sts, pull tight, and fasten securely.
