Skyggedans is a thoughtful, atmospheric mitten design inspired by winter light and shadow moving across a quiet forest floor. The pattern translates this fleeting landscape into fabric through rhythmic lines created by alternating garter stitch and double knitting.
Worked flat from the bottom up using the Marlisle technique, the mittens combine structure and softness, with colourwork that feels graphic yet calm. The double-knitted fabric creates warmth and depth, while the mirrored patterning across both mittens reinforces the sense of balance and flow.

The thumb is shaped gradually and worked separately, maintaining continuity of texture, and the mitten tops are finished with careful grafting for a seamless result. A ribbed cuff, knitted in the round and finished with an Italian bind-off, completes the design with elasticity and polish.
Skyggedans is not a fast project. It is a considered one. The kind you settle into. The kind that rewards patience. A winter study in yarn, light, and quiet precision.
