Gorgeous vintage sweater pattern.

Rondo is a vintage fitted jumper (sweater) featuring a distinctive lace crepe pattern.
- Design: The body and sleeves feature a textured, open-work lace pattern, while the yoke of the back is worked in plain smooth fabric (stockinette).
- Features: It has short sleeves, a fitted waist (ribbed), and a unique structured collar that is picked up and knitted in the round after assembly.
- Yarn: Originally designed for “Patons Beehive Crepe.”
- Sizing: Written for two sizes:
- Size A: 33–34 inch bust.
- Size B: 36–37 inch bust.
Pattern Instructions
MATERIALS
- PATONS BEEHIVE Crepe
- Size A: 7 ozs.
- Size B: 8 ozs.
- Knitting Needles: 1 pair each Nos. 10 and 12, 1 set of four No. 12 (measured on a Beehive Needle Gauge).
- Accessories: A Stitch-holder.
MEASUREMENTS (to fit A—33-34, B—36-37 inch bust)
- Length from top of shoulder: A—20 ins., B—20½ ins.
- Length of sleeve from under-arm: A—5½ ins., B—5½ ins.
TENSION
To get these measurements it is absolutely necessary to work at a tension to produce 2 patterns to 3 inches in width.

Using No. 12 Needles, cast on 116 [B—128] stitches.

Repeat 1st row fifty times.
52nd row.—(K.1, P.1) twice [B—five times], increase once in next st., * (P.1, K.1) twice, P.1, increase once in next st., repeat from * to last 3 [B—9] sts., P.1, K.1, P.1 [B—(P.1, K.1) four times, P.1] (135 [B—147] sts.).
Using No. 10 Needles, proceed as follows:—

Cast off 9 [B—12] sts. at beginning of next 2 rows, then decrease once at each end of needle in next and every alternate row, until 99 [B—105] sts. remain.
Work 1 row without shaping.***
Proceed as follows:—
1st row.—Knit plain.
2nd row.—Purl.
Repeat 1st and 2nd rows thirteen [B—sixteen] times.
In next row, K.38 [B—K.41].
Leave remaining sts. on stitch-holder.
Continue in plain, smooth fabric on these 38 [B—41] sts., decreasing once at end of needle in every alternate row, until 32 [B—34] sts. remain.
Work 4 [B—2] rows without shaping.
Shape for shoulder as follows:—
1st row.—Work to last 8 [B—8] sts., turn.
2nd and 4th rows.—Work to end of row.
3rd row.—Work to last 16 [B—16] sts., turn.
5th row.—Work to last 24 [B—25] sts., turn.
6th row.—Like 2nd row. Cast off.
Leave next 23 sts. on stitch-holder.
Join in wool and work on remaining sts. to correspond with other side.
THE BACK
Work exactly as given for Front, to ***.
Work in plain smooth fabric without shaping until armholes measure same as Front arm-holes.
Shape for shoulders as follows:—
1st and 2nd rows.—Work to last 8 [B—8] sts., turn.
3rd and 4th rows.—Work to last 16 [B—16] sts., turn.
5th and 6th rows.—Work to last 24 [B—25] sts., turn.
7th and 8th rows.—Work to last 32 [B—34] sts., turn.
9th row.—Work to end of row. Cast off.
THE SLEEVES
Using No. 12 Needles, cast on 86 [B—98] stitches.
1st row.—* K.1, P.1, repeat from * to end of row.
Repeat 1st row ten times.
12th row.—(K.1, P.1) three [B—six] times, K.1, increase once in next st., * (K.1, P.1) twice, K.1, increase once in next st., repeat from * to last 6 [B—12] sts., (K.1, P.1) three [B—six] times (99 [B—111] sts.).
Using No. 10 Needles, work as given from ** to ** for Front, six times.

Cast off 3 [B—6] sts. at beginning of next 2 rows, then decrease once at each end of needle in next and every alternate row, until 35 [B—37] sts. remain.
Work 1 row without shaping. Cast off.
Work another Sleeve in same manner.
THE COLLAR
(Both sizes) Using an 1/8 of an inch back stitch seam, sew up shoulder seams.
With right side of work facing, and using four No. 12 Needles, knit up 21 sts. evenly along left side of neck, work across 11 sts. from stitch-holder; using a second needle, work remaining sts. from stitch-holder and knit up 20 sts. from right side of neck; using third needle, knit up 40 sts. across back of neck.
Work on these three needles as follows:—
1st round.—* K.1, P.1, repeat from * to end of round.
Repeat 1st round seven times.
Proceed as follows:—
1st row.—(K.1, P.1) fifteen times, K.1, increase once in next st., turn.
2nd row.—K.2, * P.1, K.1, repeat from * to last 2 sts., K.2.
3rd row.—* K.1, P.1, repeat from * to last st., K.1.
Repeat 2nd and 3rd rows nine times. Cast off in rib.
TO MAKE UP JUMPER
With a slightly damp cloth and warm iron, press lightly. Using an 1/8 of an inch back stitch seam, sew up side and sleeve seams. Sew in sleeves, placing seam to seam.
