About This Penguin Pattern

The penguin has a shaped black-and-white body with a separate knitted base that helps create its plump, rounded shape.

Separate wings, feet, beak and tail are knitted flat, lightly stuffed and sewn into position. The face is finished with simple embroidered French-knot eyes.

The finishing touches are particularly cute: a 35cm garter-stitch scarf with a contrasting fringe wraps around the penguin, while a little white pom-pom sits on top of its head.

Knitting Bee Pattern Notes

Best for: A traditional knitted animal toy, winter decoration or handmade gift.

Difficulty: Easy to intermediate. Everything is worked on two straight needles, making this a good option for knitters who don’t want to use DPNs.

What makes it appealing: At around 30cm tall, this is a generously sized toy, and the scarf, pom-pom, wings and bright yellow feet give the finished penguin plenty of personality.
