Lace Panel Afghan

Lace panel afghan designed by Carrie Clement. This afghan is built from long, rhythmic panels of lace and color, joined edge-to-edge with a seamless technique that keeps the fabric smooth and uninterrupted. Five vertical lace strips in deep Royal Blue set the structure, each worked in a repeating 40-row motif that creates an elegant open texture from top to bottom. Between them, four wide color panels shift through rich bands of Crimson, Violet, Fisherman, and Spring Meadow, giving the blanket its bold, stacked-stripe look.

Everything is worked on the Incredible Sweater Machine using worsted-weight acrylic, and the Seam-As-You-Go method handles all joining as you knit—no hand-sewing, no extra finishing. The lace and color strips grow in perfect alignment over 544 rows, creating a long, generous fabric measuring approximately 53″ x 85″.

Lace borders frame the entire piece with matching texture, bringing the panels together into a unified design. The result is a striking, graphic afghan with strong lines, soft drape, and a satisfying interplay of color and openwork—a project that looks complex, but moves with the easy momentum of straight, machine-knit panels clicking into place.
